Lake Turkana is a must see for any Afrophiles out there especially now oil prospectors are sniffing around this amazing world heritage site could in the near future change forever. In the footsteps of the legendary Turkana Bus explore Kenyas northern frontier in a 7 day journey to the Lake stopping at the beautiful Desert Rose Camp, camping on the shores of Lake Turkana and visiting Samburu National Park. There are 6 set date departures from March - June 2015 the last one at the end of May culminating with the Turkana Cultural festival. 7 Night LakeTurkana Expedition

Day 1:

Depart from Nairobi and drive through the Rift Valley up to Nyaharur, where you will stretch your legs and look around Thompson’s Falls. Then you will continue towards Mugie stopping for a picnic lunch arriving mid-afternoon in Maralal a colourful and charming town. Here you can visit the authentic markets taste the best Nyama Choma (BBQ) and enjoy the buzzing culture.

Day 2:

After an early breakfast you will head toward Desert Rose through some stunning scenery stopping at the Loisiolo Escarpment for a coffee break. When you arrive at Desert Rose you can enjoy a late lunch and a cooling swim.

Day 3:

Today you will enjoy the picturesque walks around the mountain forest on Mount Nyiro where Desert Rose is situated 6,000ft up. You can spend the whole day enjoying the sacred mountain.

Day 4:

This morning you will leave and head towards Lake Turkana with a fly camp. You will camp on the shores of the Lake where you can enjoy the stunning landscapes.

Day 5:

Today you will depart back to Mount Nyiro for another night.

Day 6:

This morning you will depart with a picnic lunch and drive along the Ndoto Mountains to the Samburu National Reserve. You will spend the day here on a game drive.

Day 7:

This morning you will depart for Nairobi. You will pass through Timau and Nanyuki where you can stretch your legs and have lunch before continuing on. You will arrive in Nairobi in the early evening.

The dates for the expedition are 8th-14th, 22nd-28th March, 12th-18th April, 26th April- 2nd May, 10th-16th May and the 27th of May-2nd June which combines with the Turkana Cultural Festival.
