KAFUE / SOUTH LUANGWA / LIKOMA ISLAND

Day 1:
You will check in for your overnight flight to Lusaka, Zambia.

Days 2 - 4:
On arrival in Lusaka you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Kafue National Park where you will stay at the Lunga River Lodge.

The owner operated Lunga River Lodge is located on the border of Africa's largest National Park, the Kafue, and is the only lodge found on the broad and twisting stream of the perennial Lunga River. The lodge is luxurious and in a wonderful location. There are many activities to enjoy such as fishing, canoeing, walking and game drives. The active involvement of the lodge's owner, Ed Smyth, in the camp's management makes for superb service and adds a very personal touch.

Days 5 - 6:
Today you will take a charter flight from Kafue to Mfuwe in the South Luangwa National Park. On arrival you will be met by a guide who will transfer you to Tafika Camp to stay for the next 2 nights.
Tafika Camp is one of the most northerly camps in the South Luangwa National Park, set in the shade of giant leadwood trees and on a large bend of the river. There will be a maximum of 10 guests at any one time, you are looked after by the camp owner, John and Carol Coppinger, giving the camp a relaxed family atmosphere.

Tafika is able to offer microlighting as an optional extra to the excellent drives and walks of the routine day. The staff mostly come from the Mkasanga Village nearby and welcome visits from guests fascinated by their unmaterialistic way of life in this warm heart of Africa.

Days 7 - 8:
Today you will walk to Chikoko Trails Camp to stay for the next 2 nights.
Chikoko Trails operates on the banks of the Luangwa River a mornings walk from Tafika, the area is exceptionally scenic, contains an abundance of wildlife and is unique in being designated a Wilderness Area. This means there are no roads: all game viewing is done on foot. The scene remains virtually unchanged since 17th December 1866 when David Livingstone crossed the Luangwa at 'Perekani', just a few hundred metres from Chikoko. All luggage and supplies are portaged into the camps.
You will spend 2 nights at Chikoko Trails Camps on a full board basis

Days 9 - 14:
Today you will be transferred back to Mfuwe where you will connect with your flight to Lilongwe, Malawi. On arrival you will be met and take a charter flight to Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island to stay for the next 6 nights.

Likoma Island is a large island, in Malawi waters but only a mile or so off the Mozambique coast. It is a stunning paradise with clear waters, sandy beaches and dotted with mango and baobab trees. Here set on a rocky peninsular is the beautiful Kaya Mawa Lodge. There is plenty to do with windsurfing, hobie cats, laser dinghies, water skiing, boat trips, walks across the island and an amazing cathedral. If you just want to relax you can lie on the beach and snorkel around the rocks or walk down to the village. There is a special honeymoon room on its own separate island.

Day 15:
Today you will fly back to Lilongwe in time to connect with the overnight flight back to the UK.
