Kenya : Mt Elgon

Lokitela Farm
Kenya's hospitality is well known and nowhere better than in Tony and Adrianne's home, Lokitela Farm. As a working farm it grows maize and produces milk, but also gives a high priority to conservation. The farm covers 874 acres, of which 70 are riverine forest home to 350 species of bird and a variety of small mammals. The Mt Elgon National Park is within easy reach where the famous caves are renowned for their salt licking elephants and thousands of fruit bats. The Montane rain forest, Bamboo zone and Afro-Alpine moorland are of particular interest. As Tony and Adrianne's personal guests you can learn, at first hand, about farming in Kenya, the preservation of wildlife and about this fascinating part of Kenya which is far away from the usual tourist trail.
