Benguerra Island Lodge
Benguerra Lodge is based on the protected northwest shore of Benguerra Island one of the five Bazaruto Archipeligo Islands of Mozambique, once the playground of the Queen of Sheba and the trading route of old Arabia. The island is only 11 kilometres in length and the forest, savannah and wetlands sustain a diverse population of fauna and flora on this idyllic island getaway, which was declared a National Park in 1971.

The lodge is set in beautiful gardens, there are 11 chalets all built on stilts with wooden floors, reed walls and thatched roofs and each has a veranda/balcony looking out to sea. All the rooms are en-suite with and at least 10 metres apart from one another. Each chalet is built out of local materials so that they blend in with the surrounding forest and yet they are only 20 metres from the shoreline. There are also 2 stunning new honeymoon suites with decks and private plunge pool/Jacuzzi.

The lounge / dining room / bar area is separate, with a large airy patio overlooking the beach and sea across lawns and trees where attractive red tailed squirrels play. Naturally the seafood here is remarkable, freshly caught fish, calamari and crab are often prepared with a Portuguese recipe.

Your days here can be spent doing exactly what you want and when you want to do it. There are a number of activities available from the lodge; Scuba diving, snorkelling, game fishing, fly fishing, deep sea fishing, dhow cruises, castaway picnics, beachcombing, bird watching, visits to the freshwater lakes, mainland excursion to Vilanculos, windsurfing, volleyball and sunset cruises. You can choose to do as much, or as little, as you like.....

Bazaruto Lodge
Bazaruto Island is the largest island in the Bazaruto archipelago a collection of beautiful coral reef islands off the Mozambique mainland. Bazaruto Lodge is on the north eastern tip of the island and has 25 en-suite A framed bungalows, all offering en-suite accommodation overlooking the beach.

The rooms are comfortable and are all being upgraded in Feb 05 with larger bathrooms and outdoor showers. There is a very relaxed atmosphere to the lodge, it may well be down to Louis, the lodge manager who actually built the lodge so it has an owner run feel to it.

This area is phenomenally rich in bird life and natural beauty, with endless pristine beaches. The fishing, diving and snorkelling are all excellent around the islands, with many records being broken. The clear, warm waters are home to thousands of species, and a qualified instructor is on hand to assist novices and supervise the diving. Fishing is a big thing at Bazaruto but you can also hire a vehicle for a drive round the island, go water skiing and the boogie boarding can be excellent.
