Zimbabwe : Eastern Highlands

The mountain ranges of the Eastern Highlands are scenically beautiful and it is easy to explore the area by hire car. The wooded mountains of Nyanga and Chimanimani have peaks to climb and sparkling waterfalls in which to swim. The area is ideal for walking through valleys of wild flowers, trout fishing and horse riding and there are a number of golf courses and Botanical Gardens in the area.

Inn on Rupurara
The Inn on the Rupurara is on a private ranch set on the edge of a hill with spectacular views across the valley covered with Msasa trees and a variety of indigenous highveld vegetation. The view is dominated by a large rock massive, which can be climbed in the early morning for superb views across the valleys and mountains with the resident black eagles circling above. There are 17 extremely comfortable lodges with beautifully tiled bathrooms and a balcony to watch the sunset. From here you can explore the Nyanga National Park where there are lovely walks and waterfalls to visit. Or you can stay around the lodge and fish for trout in the Nyangombe River or go horseriding or walking. There is also a sauna and a small pool beside a natural waterfall and golf can be arranged on nearby courses.

Pine Tree Inn
Pine Tree Inn is a small and personal country house hotel. In the heart of the Nyanga mountains, it is set in lovely gardens and surrounded by rock massives and pine trees. There are 12 rooms, which are small but comfortable with en suite bathrooms and a fire for chilly evenings. It is an intimate hotel with friendly staff and a cosy bar. There are lovely walks and waterfalls nearby and it is within easy reach of the mountains and golf courses of Nyanga.
