River Fishing, Zambia
7 nights, River fishing on the Zambezi: Livingstone and Lower Zambezi
The Lower Zambezi is renowned for its excellent fishing, offering some of the most spectacular fresh water sport fishing in the world. The main focus for keen anglers is the world's premiere game fish, the Tiger Fish, which can grow to 15kg and the Vundu, giant catfish that can grow well over 50kg. Other species of interest are the three spot bream, red breasted bream, Nile bream, Chessa, Nkupi, Bottlenose and the Cornish Jack. Fishing in the park is on a catch and release basis.
Most of the lodges provide excellent fishing tackle, but the experienced fisherman is advised to bring his own – and plenty of it as the park is a very long way from any tackle shops. Experienced guides will take you to all the best fishing spots and guide you through the whole process whether you are a complete beginner or a professional angler.
We can tailor the accommodation to your budget, and in most lodges you will be able to combine fishing with safari activities. If you are travelling as a group we can organise for you to stay in private camps and houses such as Sindabezi Island and Chongwe River House. Other good fishing lodges on the Lower Zambezi include Chiawa Camp, Kasaka River Lodge and Impalila. Please ask us for further details.
The best time of year for fishing is during the warmer months of September to November.
